Ikkyu, the Zen master, was very cleaver even as a boy. His teacher has precious teacup, a rare antique. Ikkyu happened to break this cup and was greatly perplexed. Hearing footsteps of his teacher, he held the pieces of the cup behind him. When the master appeared, Ikkyu asked : " Why do people have to die ? "
" This is natural ", explained older man. " Everything have to die and has just so long to live. "
Ikkyu produced the shattered cup, added : " It was time of your cup to die "
I thought, Everything have comes and it goes. During you alive would be good because if you leave from this world, it's too late to solve any problem.

ถึงเวลาตาย
อิคคิวเป็นอาจารย์เซนที่ฉลาดหลักแหลมมาก แม้ว่าอายุยังน้อย อาจารย์ของอิคิวมีถ้วยน้ำชาที่มีค่ามาก และเป็นของที่หาได้ยากยิ่ง วันหนึ่งอิคคิวได้เกิดทำถ้วยน้ำชาดังกล่าวแตก ในขณะนั้นก็ได้ยินเสียงฝีเท้าอาจารย์ของเขาเดินมา อิคคิวได้ซ่อนเศษถ้วยน้ำชาที่แตกไว้ข้างหลัง เมื่ออาจารย์ของเขามาถึง อิคคิวก็ได้ถามอาจารย์ว่า " ทำไมมนุษย์เราถึงต้องตาย "
" มันเป็นธรรมชาติ " อาจารย์ของเขาตอบ และขยายความต่อไปว่า " ทุกสรรพสิ่งเมื่อถึงเวลามันก็ต้องตาย "
อิคคิวจึงได้แสดงเศษถ้วยน้ำชาออกมาและพูดว่า " มันคงถึงเวลาตายของถ้วยน้ำชาใบนี้ "
ทุกสรรพสิ่งมีเกิด ก็ยอมมีดับ ในช่วงขณะที่เรายังมีชีวิตอยู่ควรจะทำความดีไว้ เพราะว่าเมื่อเราตายไป มันอาจจะสายเกินไปที่จะแก้ไขปัญหาใดๆ ทุกเรื่อง
